About Me

I’ve always found it important to know who is behind an account or page, because I would want to know who I’m listening to, whose opinions and experiences I am reading. So here is a little introduction about me:

My name is Lisanne Moorman and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. Having lived in the countryside in a small village, I grew up within a community where everyone knows each other. I never felt like much was happening there and as I got older, I’ve always wanted to explore the world, learn new languages, discover new cultures and meet new people (I know, cliche right?).

And so I did. I moved out just two months after my 18th birthday. Since then I have spend significant amounts of time in the US, Denmark, Greece and now in France. In between I moved back to the Netherlands a few times and have lived in the cities of Leiden and Rotterdam. I never really settled because I was always looking for more.

Besides being known for moving around a lot, I love to invest in and develop myself. Though I love socializing, it wasn’t always like that. I used to be the shyest and most quiet person in the room throughout highschool. I was still very shy and insecure when I went to the US, but here I gained so much more confidence! And three years later I even overcame my fear of public speaking and now I absolutely love doing it!

Nowadays I am studying Mandarin as well as French, and I am gaining more knowledge on finances through courses and reading books. And now there is this blog to develop and maintain which absolutely excites me!

My passion for finances came about when I was 20/21 years old and always felt stuck financially. Knowing what it is like to be flat broke is one of the reasons I started writing this blog, because I have been there and I know there are so many others who went or are going through the same thing. Experiencing financial stress is one of the worst situations to find yourself in.

In March 2020 I successfully completed the Financial Accounting course at Harvard Business School Online.

I will always look for ways to become a better version of myself, I love trying and exploring new things and do not like to think of myself as ‘limited’. And while being on that journey, I hope to inspire and motivate people to do the same.

I believe everyone has some higher purpose, that goes beyond just working at a job. We just have to discover what our purpose is.

Lots of love,
